Braxton Hicks contractions
CT – 33 weeks
I have lots of braxton hicks contractions. They started at week 22. How can I tell the difference between the real thing and false labour?
22 weeks is obviously very early to be having real labour or even a lot of braxton hicks. It is normally caused from women being too busy in their life. If that resonates and you know that is true then you need to slow down. You are carrying a little person so a lot of energy is going to baby. Women often say they are doing less but that often still means too much these days. If that is not true and you are still worried then visit your midwife and see what they say.
I would need to know a little more before I could be clear. As you can imagine that is only one signal and difficult to understand the full picture from that alone.
Stress and rushing around takes blood away from the uterus because the body needs the blood in the arms and legs – almost like you are being chased by a tiger. The body only has so much blood so it has to prioritise for survival (arms and legs to run away). Braxton hicks are normal natural actions of the body in pregnancy and are cramp like feelings which are actually contractions by the uterus in preparation for birth.
