How do you best prepare for breastfeeding?
Well like all tasks in life you need the core material which will come in the form of nutrients. They build the foundation, just like the ingredients to a cake. Then you need the tools, now you may think these would be the breasts but actually NO! We will presume from the fact that you are interested in breastfeeding that you have the basic equipment already. For us the equipment is the right nerve and blood supply. The nerves are the information highways that carry the messages for things to happen. The blood is of equal importance as it carries the nutrients, oxygen and hormones that help the body do what it does. The other part of the equation is knowledge and that comes from clear understanding. In most cases this is the biggest piece of the puzzle which is why we are creating an entire workbook for you. When mums and dads have real clarity of why it’s important, how do you do it with ease, what to do when things go wrong and when it is necessary to get help. When those aspects are clear then breastfeeding becomes an enjoyable, bonding and rewarding experience for all concerned. Breastfeeding – it’s not Rocket Science will cover everything you need to know about breastfeeding, explained in a way that is simple and informative. We have taken the international guidelines as the bare minimum and added 60% more. For some reason this area of motherhood is controversial and mothers often feel pressurised and guilty. We do not promote that, we simply provide great information so you can make an informed choice.
